Messaging with employers

Updated 8 October 2026

How conversations work

  • There is one conversation per application. The employer writes first; you can reply but can't start a conversation.
  • Reply from your application in My applications or your messages page, or, without an account, from your tracking link after the code check.
  • You can send text, and files once you're signed in.
  • "Seen" shows when the company has read your message.
  • Interview invitations and offers also arrive as cards in the conversation.

Your contact details stay private

The employer doesn't see your phone number or email until:

  • you press Share my phone and email (this can't be undone for that employer), or
  • your application reaches the Interview stage.

Some companies choose to wait even longer. Employers never see your other applications.

You're in control

  • Block: stops the employer writing to you. Only you can lift it.
  • Report: report one message or the whole conversation to our trust team.

Checked for scams

Every message is checked before you see it. Messages asking for money, codes or your NID may be held, or shown with a warning. Read staying safe in messages.

Notifications

We tell you when a new message arrives, by email and in the app, or by SMS with your tracking link if you applied without an account. The message text itself is never in the alert.
